MBBS in Russia for Pakistani Students: PMDC and the Real Budget

July 23, 2026

For Pakistani students, the two questions that decide everything are PMDC recognition and total cost. Both have clear answers — clearer than most agents make them sound.

PMDC recognition, stated precisely

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council maintains its own criteria for foreign medical qualifications, and graduates must pass the NRE (National Registration Examination) to practise in Pakistan. The foundation requirement is that your university appears in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools — true of every medical university RUSBASE works with. Before enrolling anywhere, verify the university against PMDC’s current published list; rules are updated, and a serious consultancy checks the current version with you rather than quoting last year’s.

Why Russia specifically?

Three reasons dominate. Cost: $3,400–$6,000 per year for medicine in Ufa against private medical colleges at home charging comparable or higher fees with intense competition for seats. No IELTS: admission is based on your FSc/A-level results, not an English test. Speed: through RUSBASE the acceptance letter typically arrives within 7 working days, and most students complete the entire process — admission, invitation, visa — in well under two months.

The realistic budget

Beyond tuition, plan $180–$280 monthly living costs in Ufa (Moscow roughly double or more), dormitory fees from around $30 a month at the cheapest partner universities, plus one-time costs: medical certificates, translation and notarisation, insurance, and the flight. Every tuition fee we work with is published openly — if a number is hidden, that is a signal, not a style.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the degree taught in English?

English-medium MBBS is available at several partner universities. Russian-medium is cheaper and includes a preparatory language year.

What documents do I need?

Passport, Matric and FSc certificates with transcripts, photos, and medical certificates. The full checklist is here — translation and notarisation are handled in-house.

Are scholarships open to Pakistani students?

Yes — the Russian Government quota and Open Doors both accept Pakistani applicants. Details and honest limits here; nobody can guarantee an award.
